Custom Destruction started
in 2010 when I was working as a welder full time, but was always in my garage working on bikes. Like most of us that own motorcycles, we started to compile a lot of spare parts, and somehow I started collecting helmets. Their exteriors were perfect; scratched, dented, and chipped, just how you’d want a vintage helmet to look. Used and abused. The issue was the interiors were dry rotted and useless, or maybe even the chin straps were no good, missing a rivet, etc. On a whim, I tried to see if I could bring some of them back to life. It was somewhat slow going, trying to figure out how to reconstruct them so they were size appropriate and comfortable. Eventually I landed on patterns I could replicate and everything changed. I found fabrics that were easy to work with and would look good. I started restoring helmets for friends, and then friends of friends. Once I started posting them on Instagram, some followers showed interest, and it just grew organically from there. My wife and I moved to Nashville in 2017, and because of the support from the motorcycle community, I was able to take a chance on Custom Destruction. I worked out of my garage in Tennessee full time restoring and customizing helmets. We have since moved back to Wilmington North Carolina, and I’m busier than ever. We’ve sold helmets all over the world including US, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, and England. We are Veteran owned and operated. For those of you who are returning customers, I can not thank you enough for your continued support. If you are new to the site, thank you for taking the time to check us out, and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
